Rest of March….3 races in a week!

So life once again got super real.  And by real I mean “busy”.  I usually have too much fun living it to keep up with writing about it.

The good news is I have almost been perfect with my NRTE plan.  The only oppies was this week when I started throwing up Monday night and laid on the floor for most of Tuesday and Wednesday!  I did make it on Thursday but rested some more on Friday.  So pretty sure 3 days out of all of it isn't too bad!

The bad news is my tummy still isn't at 100%.  And I had to break off from the best body boot camp plan but a new week starts soon and I have a chance to get back in the game!

So on to race recaps!

1st up was the NWO 5k in Findlay.  Bard and her friend Audra were running it so I tagged along to test out my legs.  It was a flat and FAST course.  I was shocked when the group took off and didn’t look back!  I just kept asking when they were going to slow down.  So if you cant beat them join them!  And join them I did!

NWO5K

Speed demon!  For me that was quite a clip!  I was happy and shocked.  Yes the course was short and they didn’t have chip timing.  So do I count is as a 5k or not?!  If so it’s a 2+min PR! Oh and almost forgot…a 9yo boy made me look stupid at the finish line by racing me to the point of me wanting to vomit.  That’s the last time I encourage some one who starts walking 100yards from the finish!

The very next day I did the Greenswell Sharon Woods 5K. with Jessica  This was the first “trail” race I have ever done.  It was fun but so hard!

GSW5K

Much slower but for sure not flat!  Part of the course was in the woods on a chipped gravel trail and the other part was through grass.  And it rained the few days before  I was covered in mud up to my knees!  But it was still a fun race.

Today I did leg one of the Scioto Miles training races.  It was so much fun.  Remember how I said I was sick at the beginning of this week.  Yeah my issues are not 100% smoothed out so when I woke this morning food was the last thing I wanted.  I managed about 2 bites of my normal prerace fuel, a clif bar, and decided to take some Jello to chug on the way.  I made it to Cosi and carried my Jello with me which got me some strange looks and questions.  In case you wonder, not proper fuel for a 10k.

After I verified I was indeed signed up for the 10k it was time to take off.  The first 1/2 felt okay but I knew my body was not going to enjoy the second loop.  I so wanted to head on in at the 5k mark but I wouldn’t let it happen.  I did take a Gu with me but with nothing in my stomach I knew it wouldn’t sit any better than running on no fuel was doing for me.  I managed to keep moving, only stopping to walk up 2 small hills for <0.2miles worth of walking.  I am glad I did because it was enough to get me through those last couple of miles.  Here’s the crazy part: PR.  FTW.

SM10k1

Granted the only other 10k I have done was the Flying Pig last year and is much hillier and I did throw up there In love.  I really look forward to running the 2nd leg in April and hope I am in shape to really test out my legs!  I would love to get my 10k pace down below 10min miles and with the way I have been doing I should be able to!

NRTE Day 15

Over 2 weeks done. Shocked but going string. Today was planned a 2 mile run. Since it was a gorgeous day Jessica and I decided to meet up at a park to run. I was happy to have the company. We ran 2 at a comfy pace then walked another mile. It's been a long time since I've had an outside running buddy. I didn't have any extra boot camp planned today so just the 2! Tomorrow is either a circuit or a cardio block. Excited to do another circuit. I can for real feel yesterday's!
The rest of my night involve a nice piece of pie CG brought me from his meeting last night. Yum! BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop

NRTE Day 14 & Day 2 BBBC

After yesterdays run following the run the day before I was nervous as to how my little legs would feel.  They are holding up well so far!

I had planned to go right to the gym after work so I wouldn’t have time to overthink it and in hopes it might be less busy and I could do my workout in peace.  So I made sure I packed a snack at work.  Then my GS cookies showed up!

003004

Which one would you pick?!
Well I do not like samoas so those are actually for CG.  And I went with the Luna bar.  Never had that flavor before.  So yummy.  I have been wanting lemon desserts for awhile now and that hit the spot.

I did the workout from the boot camp and didn’t feel like a loser.  I made myself at home in a corner with my equipment and finished up with some cardio on the AMT.  New season of Veronica Mars!

Now I am working hard at making dinner.  Have asparagus cooking, making mashed cauliflower and turkey sausages.  I am starving and its not close to done yet!

Things I need to do

3 Clean spare room.  Have company coming this weekend.  Talk more soon about it.

2 Clean the bath room.  OMG I am a gross girl its not even funny.

1 Get back into the countdown habit!

NRTE Day 13

Today was day 13!  I cant believe how fast Lent is passing!  Another great day at the gym.  I had a few changes happen along the way.  My gym/work buddy was going to meet me for Iron so I wanted to switch up my days for bootcamp.  I wanted to do a cardio day and switch the weights plan to tomorrow.  So I set out to do an interval run.  It was going good til I had to jump off the treadmill to set up for class.  I wanted to get right back on but the treadmills were all taken.  Then when I finally did get on my buddy called as she was circling the parking lot…and had been for 5mins.  She said screw the gym so I set back at it to finish up.  Then I skipped Iron because its not as fun alone.

This was the first time I did any sort of interval thing for running.  I really liked it.  It got my mind off how far I was running and before I knew it I was done with 5+miles!

I picked my goals for this week to be drinking H2O and taking my multivitamin.  I am horrible with keeping hydrated.  I do okay during the week because I always drink over 40ozs at work but on the weekends I never drink anything close to enough.  Then come Monday I have horribly chapped lips from being so dehydrated.  It is so dumb of me but I don’t know why I do it.  So I am trying to make an effort to knock it off!  Taking a multivitamin is new for me.  I have tried taking them in the past but have always felt horrible from them.  No matter what time of day I took them.  So the last time I was at Sams I saw adult gummy vitamins and wanted to give them a try.  CG thinks its silly but at least they don’t make me sick!

Time for dinner!  A spinach salad and tuna.  Very exciting.  But back to back 5mile run days wears me out and I don’t want to cook!

Tomorrow I do a weights workout and I am honestly nervous about it.  I am hoping I don’t chicken out because I am super shy at the gym and don’t want to look like a fool!  I did find out the Ladies Only area at the gym has the equipment I would need so I think that might be a good place to try out first!

NRTE Days 10 & 11 & 12

I have been trying to post the past 2 days but the app I use on my phone didn’t want to post!  So I will just do it all now that I have time to sit down at my lap top.

Friday was a non running day so I wanted to do a cardio “triathlon”.  My plan was 15mins row, 15mins bike and 15mins elliptical.  But the rowing machine was never free so instead I did 15 bike, 15 AMT and 15 stair machine!!  The evil stair machine.  I actually was proud I got on it for the first time ever at the gym.  Worked up a sweat!

Saturday I had a 5 mile run planned but unfortunately my plans got derailed by a sick mom!  I ended up spending almost 8hours in OSU’s ER with her.  Not a good time but we made the best of it.  Brought out Kindles and got our reading on!  She is okay and doing much better today!  When I got home it was after 8 and all I wanted to do was go to bed.  But I really didn’t want to miss a workout day.  So I pulled out Bob’s book again and did a light circuit in my living room which watching some trash tv.  I slept good after that.

Sunday I had to make up my 5mile run.  I did 4 on the treadmill while watching the next to last episode of season 2 of Veronica Mars.  OMG its getting good!  So excited to get onto season 3 but I will be so sad when it is over.  Then I have to pick a new show!

Today marks a new challenge for me!  I am off to camp!

I kept seeing different of the blogs I read talking about it and I figured what's 25bucks if I can learn something and make a commitment!

Now how to figure out things like adding links to my page…..I am not exactly a smart blogger…

NRTE Day 9

March 1, 2012

Made it to March.  Made it another day on my workout plan.  Today was a 4mile run day on my schedule.  I ended up doing 2 on the treadmill and then 2 on the track at the gym.  The treadmill was in 18:58 while the track I did 19:20.  Not my best but with the way the rest of my day went I was fine with it.  I lost my pedometer at work today .  That’s what I get for not using the safety strap.  Then I was eatting a Lara bar on my way home from work and got to the 2nd 1/2 and found that it was growing some white fuzz.  Yeah it was past it use by date.  Opps.  Havent thrown up yet but it instantly make me want to ralph on my car!

So February was a pretty good month for workouts!

image

That would be 55miles I ran for the month and that green little arrow means my fastest run!  I didn’t realize my run yesterday was my fasted I have ever documented!  My legs are feeling pretty good and my body overall is pretty happy with the plan.  If only I could get a handle on my grubbin!  I ate an entire Piada bowl tonight…even though I was full long before I was done.

NRTE Day 8

Leap day!

One week done, only 32 days to go!  I am still shocked at how easy I have found it to keep it up!

Today my training plan was to do 2 miles.  And who am I to argue with a plan!  This morning I woke up to thunderstorms so when I left work to find a pretty day I knew my miles would be outside!  My goal was to run the loop and see if I could get my pace closer to 9min miles.  Since it was 2miles I knew I could push myself to run harder than I do for longer runs. So do ya think I did it…..

022912

BOOYA!  Yeah I killed it.  Nonstop, positive splits but I so picked it up at the end of the 2nd mile to make sure I would finish it under 9min/mile too!  I honestly wanted to puke afterwards and wish I had enjoyed a snack before the run.  Need less to say its been a good February for me!

Once I got back I wanted to do some strength exercises.  I consulted one of my recent library pick ups:

001

I figure since one of my biggest plans in life is to be on The Biggest Loser, I should probably start doing his exercises now so when I get to the ranch I will be set!  I just went through and did a bunch of upper body exercises with 15reps each.  I probably did about 15 different moves.  Since I was just doing them as I thumbed through the book.  Next time I think I want to write down a plan first.  Maybe hit up the Pinterest.

The rest of my night includes some DVR and Piada In love

NRTR Day 7

February 28, 2012

One week in! Did a solid 60mins on an elliptical today only interruption was by the trainer trying to give me a free training session. Which I would like but after that it's not free and that would make me sad. Otherwise the gym was uneventful. Got an episodes and 1/2 of VM watched but all I could think about was my piada sitting at home waiting for me once I got done sweating! BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. Did it work??

Okay so spent some more time to find a kind of way to do it…..

Untitled

Well slap me silly.  I think I almost did what I wanted to do.  I copy and printed a screen shot to Microsoft Paint.  Then cropped that bad boy and save it as a png.  No clue why png but that is what I did.

But I still believe there is an easier way….

NRTE Day 6

February 27, 2012

Holy windy day!  Beautiful day but the wind was out of control.  But that didn’t stop me from getting my run in outside!

OMG just spent at least an hour trying to figure out an easy way to post the mile splits.  I see it on every other blog out in the world but cant for the life of me figure out how to do it.  UGUUGUGUGUg.  So pretty much believe me that I ran it and hopefully one day soon I will figure it all out.

Dinner was a nice plate of whole wheat pasta with alfrado sauce and carb.  Yum.  And made some homemade garlic cheese bread.

Now that I am highly annoyed I am off of here to shower and read a book.

NRTE Day 5

February 26,2012

Since Sunday's are not a normal workout day for me I was shocked at how easy it was to get me there. I didn't put up a fight at all. I was up early to go with CG to pick up some farm equipment he bought at an auction yesterday. I have no idea what the thing does but it was 15 feet wide which made for a fun trip back. My main job was to help him back up to it when we picked it up. Got it on the first try. After we went to church we had lunch with his grandma then I headed back towards the city with a to do list. Started my laundry then I was off. I stopped at the red box to return The Help and ran to the library. After I was 1/2 way there I wish I had walked to those places instead of going to the gym but I was already set.
When I got to the gym I stepped on the AMT then stepped right back off and hit up the arc trainer. I was happy to do something different and people watch the folks on the track. 40 mins and one episode of Veronica Mars later I was done!
I'm very pleased with how my workouts have been going except I am 100% slacking at any weight training. I need to make sure and start adding that in in the next week. My lack of lazy excuses has honestly shocked me. But will I feel the same come day 25?! BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. NRTE Day 4

February 25, 2012

Today was my “long” run of the week. A nice 5miles was on the plan.  I am a huge wuss and refused to run outside so I took my legs to the gym and traveled around the track around 45 laps!  I had to stop after mile 1 to talk to my poor sick mom then after mile 2 to take care of business.  I haven't got my system back into a regular routine yet.

Tomorrow is Sunday which I have been making a perfect rest day for many weeks.  So I have no idea what I will want to do tomorrow.  I guess I will see what I feel like tomorrow and do it for at least 30mins!

Off to watch The Help and do some arts and crafts projects!

NRTE Day 3

Feburary 24, 2012

Had a nice day of work planned with a very important appotinment at 2 to get my hair cut.  After that I had enough time to squeeze in a trip to the gym.  I did 45mins on the AMT.  Its been ages since I put in some quality time on the AMT.  It was a great sweat to an Episode of VM.

Plans were to have quality time with CG and go shopping for things but he got a last min date with some coworkers so I sat at home alone.  Had I known that, I would have had more time at the gym!

NRTE Day 2

Feb 22, 2012
Today I had a nice little girls day planned with D and efm. We were going to take a nice trip to the outlet malls and blow too much money on purses. You know the normal. So I realized if I was going to stick with my workout I would need to get it in before we left. I had 3 miles on my todo list and decided I would hit the gym around 7am. That's sleeping in for me! So I did my 3 and honestly it sucked. I hate how yesterday was a great run on top of the world and today's was such a chore. I didn't even do it nonstop. Couldn't get into a groove. But it was dove the. We proceeded to do over 9000 steps at the outlets! Put me around 15000 for the day if I had been smart enough to wear my pedo to the gym!
Tomorrow it's back to work then a hair appointment. After that will be gym time. I hate to dirty up freshly did hair but that's the rules! BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop

NRTE DAY 1

Feb 22, 2012

Day one went splendidly!  My training plan was to do 2 miles today.  Well on Monday I had a slight issue while pounding away on the treadmill.  Lets just say at 2.5miles I had to run to the girlies room!  By the time I got back there was no treadmills open and only a few mins til iron started.  So I ran 0.5 on the track.  So to make up for not doing 4 then I wanted to catch up today!

Today ended up being pretty out so I rushed home from work, geared up and set out to do 4, 2 more than my plan!  It was great.

Day 1 = success!

No Rest Til Easter

Its that time of year again when some religions take the time to give something up they see as a sacrifice.  I don’t actually belong to such a religion but in college I had many catholic roomies.  So its been something fun to keep doing after college.  Last year I gave up potatoes.  All forms.  My greatest love is potatoes.  I actually did really good last year.  But of course I went right back to my love affair after lent was over.

This year I wanted to try something a little different.  I have decided for Lent to give up rest days.  I use rest days like a complete crutch.  I take them like its my job.  And I take that job very seriously.  But I have been completely in a funk lately and I am looking forward to this challenge.

The rules will be pretty simple.  I am in the middle of getting ready for races so I have a nice set plan for my running.  The hard part will be the 3 days of the week when I don’t have runs planned.  So pretty much other days, I need to do 30mins of exercise.  It can be some Wii fit action or the Nike app at home.

I am pretty excited for this challenge.  Let the games begin!  In love

Doesnt play well with others

I have noticed a difference in the classes I take at the gym the past couple of weeks.  At first I assumed it was because it was getting cold out and many were taking up their new years resolutions early.  Well last night it finally clicked.  A chain of gyms in the area closed their doors recently.  When I had heard this news I thought nothing of it, except glad its not my gym.  Last night I came to the iron class I have been going to for the past 2 years and it was full with new meat heads.  I am guessing their old gym had body pump and they owned that class and had big plans to come take over our class.  I was annoyed from the first minuet when they were loud and not even trying to listen to Ali(my favorite instructor ever).  Then the one old lady throws a fit because she wants to use the "body pump" weights over the "iron" weights.  Lady just because on is in lbs and one is in kgs doesn't mean you cant switch!  So she takes up even more of our workout time making Ali try to find more bp weights for her.  THEN she doesn't even use them!  I did have a good laugh because she would load up the bar then not be able to lift it.  The entire class I had to listen to the couple of males grunt and holler and sing along.  It was beyond annoying.
So maybe I am a little touchy and don't like for others to just come along and act like they are important.  I never claimed to be good at playing with others.  Except puppy dogs.  I play real well with them :]
Besides Iron this week I made it to the Dance, Dance.  Such a hoot.  If you leave that class in a bad mood then you just have a crappy life.  There is nothing like the laugh you get from either yourself or the others in the class.  Between the non coordinated and the overly serious ones I spend most of the time giggling.  I also ran 3 miles on Monday and 4 miles on Wednesday.  I have been making sure to keep my pace at a 6mph constant pace then bump it up slightly at the end to beat the 10min miles.  I hope to bump up my constant pace in the next week to 6.2 and see how that goes.  I have a great desire to run faster.  It also helps that I downloaded every episode of Veronica Mars to entertain me on the dreadmill!  I know I watched most of the episodes back in the day but for the life of me I cant remember what happens.
Today I am off work to take a trip south to the outlet malls with D.  An extra day off work is super exciting to me.  And maybe find some gifts for the family!

3 shows I want to download and watch while running
3.  Veronica Mars.  Done.  There were only 3 seasons and I am up to episode 8 of the first season.  Who killed Lily Kane is killing me!
2. The OC.  Loved this show until they announced they were cancelling it.  Then I quit watching it in rebellion.  I did finally watch season 4 but I would like to start all over again.
1. Its always sunny in Philly.  This is a show I catch here and there but would like to start from the beginning.

Late Night Visitors

Last night my great friend Nikki was driving pretty much across country with her boyfriend and since they were on 70 they would be coming right through Cbus.  Our original plan was to meet for dinner and they would head the 6hrs home to Nikki's.  They ended up getting a late start and didn't actually make it to Cbus until almost 11.  So instead the plans changed and they stayed the night here.  I had never met her boyfriend CB before so I was excited to have them.  I felt bad because I was half asleep when they arrived.  And CB had his dog, Belle, with him!  A french bulldog I believe.  So cute.  My first pet visitor!  They got up early this morning and I saw them off.  While I like CB I don't think I that he is going to make Nikki move even farther away but NC is wayyyyy closer than WY!  I see some beach trips in our future.
Me and Nikki at the Penn State game

So now my day is going to be a long list of things I just want to get done.  Such as the gym.  Go to Kohl's and get some shopping done.  Maybe run to my mom's house and bother her.  I use to have some carhart bibs when i was in high school and I would really like to find them so when CG ask me to do stuff at his place I can. And I need to get my tree up!

3 must dos today
3 Gym!!  I will be running and iron.  Feel like it would be good for me and my schedule.
2 Shop. Even if only online I need to get some done!
1 Decorate.  I need to figure out what I even own!  But I have the perfect spot for the tree.

Back to 3rd shift

Last night I got to dabble in working 3rd shift again.  Right out of college I got hired to work 3rd shift at the lab.  I did that for 2 1/2 years before I took the job I am still currently working.  I didn't mind 3rd shift.  The pay was good and the people weren't too bad...well most of them.  I got a lot of reading done and puzzle books!  But I also froze to death every night.

Before heading into work I had to cook this chicken that CGs dad had given me.  He went in with a buddy and raised a bunch of meat chickens and was passing them out the other day.  I got one and there was no way it would fit in my freezer so I stuck it in the fridge to thaw out.  So I googled a good recipe and cooked away.  I followed Glamour magazines "engagement chicken" recipe.  I have seen this recipe for years and figured it would be a good time to test it out...ya know see if it actually works.  Well it was a success...at least as far as taste!  I will link it once I figure that out but feel free to google it.

Big plans this weekend involve relaxing and decorating.  Maybe some arts and crafts time too.  I also hope to hit up the gym.  I made it there Tuesday and Wednesday so far this week so Saturday and Sunday are 2 days I need to get to my 4 for the week.

3 exciting things from this week
3 .The chicken.  I was impressed with really how good it was!  I am a professional chef. :]
2.The big project I finished up at work.  I have had this one going on for a while so getting it done was a huge pile off my desk.  Granted working over night wasn't all that great but it was nice to get done.
1. The OSU vs dooke game.  The Buckeyes were on point!  I enjoy college basketball greatly, easily more so than football and when the Buckeyes are looking this good in December...I can only wait for March madness.

Opps a couple of more weeks flew by!

Its been 2 weeks since I have hit up the blogger but finally I am sitting down to post!  The floorset went fine.  I was even able to stay awake until 4am without whining!
Other things going on include going to Dance, Dance and Zumba at UA with Jessica!  Those classes are a hoot.  I of course would rather kill time ticking away miles on the treadmill but I do enjoy the different workouts.
This week was a good one work wise since it was Thanksgiving making a nice 3 day work week!  On Turkey day morning Cable Guy and I took off to Dublin to run the Flying Feather.  This was our 2nd time running this race and I really enjoyed it more so this year.  You get a nice tech long sleeve shirt and a bottle of wine at the finish!  Last year I hadn't ran but a few miles since the half and was feeling completely worn down and burnt out.  I finished in 2010 in 43:00.  CG finished in 43:53 so at least I had beat him.  It took me a few more 4miler tries to beat it due to one 4miler being on the hottest day EVER.   I had no idea how I would be feeling for this race but I was just going to enjoy it.
Last year CG took off at the start of the race and if it had been a 2mile race he would have smoked me.  This year he pulled back and I told him I would keep our pace at 10min miles.  I was quite happy to realize I could have been going at a quicker pace.  Around mile 2 I checked in with CG and while he asked me to stay back and run with him, he also would like me to not keep talking or he would punch me :].  Side note...the last time CG ran was last year on TG.   He was such a trooper.  Around mile 3 I started to pull away a little and had my final mile be by far my quickest.

This is actually from 2010 but I had on the exact same outfit so it will work :]
Thanksgiving was a great treat after a nice burn from the run.  My grandma Jones and my mom came over to my place and we had all the fixings!  I then spent black Friday at the mall, not shopping but working at AE.  I worked from 7-5.  Yeah that is more hours than I put in at my real job!  But it wasn't too bad.  I was stocking the floor and running items from the back room the entire day.
Now I am needing to pack up my fall decor for my winter/Christmas ones!  But I also need to finish up some arts and crafts too!
Tomorrow should be busy of fun stuff.  Arts and crafts will be done and some laundry!  And a trip to the gym.  I was hoping to go when the Bengals game was on but I just realized that I think the game is blacked out.  Annoying.

3 things to get done!
3. Laundry!  My pile is about waist high!
2. Christmas wreath.  This one is yarn with felt flowers.  I just cant make up my mind on it!
1. Go buy a usb cord for my Kindle fire!!
